This is the Marathi version of Devdutt Pattanaik’s 99 Thoughts on Ganesha, titled 99 Ganesh Chintan. Summary of the Book 99 Thoughts on Ganesha contains stories, symbols and rituals of India’s beloved elephant-headed Hindu deity. Known as Ganapati, Gajanana, Pillayar or Vinayaka and several other names, he is believed to be the remover of obstacles and is worshipped before beginning any auspicious ceremony. This book answers every possible question that contemporary readers might have about Lord Ganesha. Based on ancient scriptures, mythology, Vedic and tantric teachings, and even temple folklore, this book offers comprehensive details about Ganesha. It narrates stories and explains the reasons behind his alternate names. The section titled Representations covers the thirty-two forms of the Lord, including Maha Ganapati, Shakti Ganapati, Ucchista Ganapati, and Lakshmi Ganapati. Pattanaik also narrates how the God ended up with the head of an elephant. About Devdutt Pattanaik Dr. Devdutt Pattanaik is an Indian physician, writer and leadership consultant. A graduate of Grant Medical College, Mumbai, he worked in Pharma for fourteen years before moving on to a career in writing. He is the author of several other books including Myth = Mithya: A Handbook of Hindu Mythology, The Pregnant King and Jaya: An Illustrated Retelling of the Mahabharata.
