About the Book:Mulk Raj Anand (1905-2004) and Chaduranga (1906-1998) were contemporaries and progressive writers in two different languages of India, one writing in English and the other in Kannada. They wrote some stirring issues of critical social importance and brought out timeless truths which evoked a sense of emphatic awakening. Humanism, nationalism and Marxism obviously made an inroad into their works. In this investigative effort both the writers have been brought on a common platform so as to throw some light on many issues they have raised in their novels like caste and class conflict which have caused a disastrous hindrance to the development of society. Ample suggestions are there in their novels to resolve such conflicts and an attempt is made to focus on some of these aspects in this book.
