Oxford Dictionary of Economics, edited by John Black, Nigar Hashimzade, and Gareth Myles and published in 2012, is an exhaustive collection of terms and concepts from the field of Economics with explanations and useful references. It is indispensable to students and teachers alike. Summary Of The Book Various terms and theories used in the different branches of Economics are chosen and organized in Oxford Dictionary of Economics. The term count crosses 3000. Fields like economic theory, applied microeconomics and macroeconomics, labour economics, public economics and public finance, monetary economics, and environmental economics have contributed key terms to this excellent compilation. Even recent developments from associated branches like agent based modelling, computational economics, and social interaction are also represented here. Words such as black swan, credit crunch, Northern Rock, and Iceland which are neologisms of the most recent times are also included. Terms from the sphere of international trade and those pertaining to economic organizations and institutions find place in this compendium. The edition is neatly arranged, beginning with a Preface and followed by the entries in the Dictionary, the Appendices, Institutional Acronyms, a list of Nobel Prize winners in Economics and concluding with The Greek alphabet. The most helpful feature of this dictionary are the web-links that are provided anywhere possible. Thus, the terms in the dictionary come with an entry level web-link that leads to a regularly updated companion website which allows the readers to extend their explorations on a certain topic. The appendices and other entries too come with such helpful website information.
