This is a classic story about a little boy who overfeeds his goldfish and the adventures that follow. Summary of the Book A little boy buys a fish from a pet store and names it Otto. He is given feeding instructions from the owner of the store, Mr. Carp, as he will need to know how and when to feed the fish if it needs to survive. He is told that he should never feed the fish a lot of food, and that just a spot of food is enough. However, the little boy ignores all these instructions and Otto gets too big for its fishbowl. The boy shifts him to a vase and then a bath tub. Soon, the house is filled with water. The boy takes help from the police and the fire department. They help him take Otto to the local pool, but the fish grows to the size of the pool and scares away all the swimmers. Mr. Carp appears, dives into the pool and takes Otto underwater. What do you think he is going to do? Will the little boy be able to take Otto back home? About Helen Palmer Helen Palmer was an American children’s author, editor and philanthropist.
