The magic of G. R. R. Martin’s A Song of Fire and Ice continues with Steel and Snow, the first part of the third book in the series. Summary of the Book In Westeros, a cold wind blows. It is imbued with the steely resilience of metal and the grim nature of blood. It heralds the coming of a great war, one that will bring the Seven Kingdoms to their knees. Yet, the Seven Kingdoms ignore its portents and squabble for control. Five sought the Iron Throne. Now, four of them remain. Joffrey holds the Iron Throne, but his control is waning. Robb Stark’s forces rally in the North, where he holds control. The squabbles leave the Seven Kingdoms open to an onslaught at the hands of an unlikely threat: Daenerys Targaryen, the mistress of dragons.
