A Midsummer Night’s Dream is one of Shakespeare’s most beloved comedies. Summary of the Book Both Lysander and Demetrius are in love with the beautiful Hermia. Hermia has eyes only for Lysander, but her father will only accept Demetrius as his son-in-law. Outside this complex circle is Helena, who is in love with Demetrius and gets nothing in return. Hermia decides to flee with Lysander, but the angry Demetrius follows them with Helena following him. In the forest, the King and Queen of fairies are having a tiff over a servant boy and the mortals are unaware of this. Amidst the confusion, Puck, Oberon’s head mischief-maker, is on the loose with a flower that will make a person fall in love with the first thing they see upon waking. To add to this, a laborer, from the group that is preparing a play for the Duke’s wedding, is given Titania for a lover. All of these twists in the plot sum up to give you one of the best works in comedy. About William Shakespeare William Shakespeare was an English poet, playwright and writer.
