Tale of Two Cities is a book that deals with themes of duality, revolution and resurrection. Summary of the Book Lucie Manette gets to know from Mr. Jarvis Lorry that her father, who had disappeared eighteen years ago, is alive. He was wrongly accused and sent to prison to die. When he is let out, Monsieur Defarge takes care of him and he is in a bad state, both physically and mentally. Lucie decides to nurse her father back to health. Five years later, Lucie meets Charles Darnay and Sydney Carton. Darnay is accused of being a traitor and a spy, but is later acquitted. Eventually, both Charles and Sydney fall in love with Lucie. In the meantime, the French Revolution is spiraling out of control and proves dangerous for everyone. This is an intense story about love, sacrifice and war. About Charles Dickens Charles Dickens was an English novelist, short story writer and social critic. He is best remembered for his prolific writing, and especially the novels: David Copperfield, A Christmas Carol and The Pickwick Papers. Considered the literary juggernaut of his age, Dickens constantly portrayed the poor and orphaned in his novels and stories, and touched upon the poor living situations which were rampant in those days.
