A Tangled Tale is a collection of short stories that were originally published serially in The Monthly Packet magazine. The Knots, as Carroll calls the stories, all represent math problems, which weren’t always direct. Carroll’s intention for these Knots was to conceal math in fun stories for the reader’s enjoyment.
