About the Author Dr. Harbans Lal joined as Lecturer in Biochemistry at Medical College Rohtak (now Postgraduate Institute of Medical Sciences of Pt. B.D. Sharma University of Health Sciences) after completing Ph.D. from Institute of Medical Sciences Banaras Hindu University Varanasi and retired from there as Senior Professor after nearly 34 years of service. Presently he is working as Senior Professor & Head Department of Biochemistry at Maharaja Agrasen Medical College Agroha (Hisar). He has supervised a large number of Ph.D. and M.D. students written six textbooks and published 129 research papers in various international and national journals. He is also Associate Editor of the Journal of Biochemistry Letters and on peer review of various journals. Dr. Harbans Lal has also been a visiting faculty at Louisiana State University Medical Centre New Orleans USA and Department of Biosciences M.D. University Rohtak. He is a life-member of several scientific bodies including Association of Clinical Biochemists of India International Federation of Clinical Chemistry and Society of Biological Scientists of India. He was also Vice-President of the Association of Clinical Biochemists of India (ACBI) and convenor of its Haryana Chapter. Dr. Lal is a recipient of several international and national awards including World Health Organization Fellowship and Best Teacher Award for Excellence in Teaching by Postgraduate Institute of Medical Sciences Rohtak. Dr. Rajesh Pandey did his MBBS from Medical College Calcutta (now Kolkata) followed by 6 months of house-job in Medicine from the same place. He did his MD (Biochemistry) from Pt. B.D. Sharma PGIMS Rohtak. Thereafter he joined as Research Associate/Scientist at PGIMER Chandigarh where he worked for more than 5 years. Currently he is working as Associate Professor (Biochemistry) at MMIMSR Mullana (Ambala). He has published over 42 papers in international/national journals of repute and also has 3 international book-chapters to his credit. His special interests include antioxidants nutritional biochemistry and nanotechnology.
