Accelerate is a book on businesses and how they can stay ahead of the competition by John P. Kotter. Summary of the Book The main problem that companies face in today's world is changing while maintaining a standard for excellence. Resisting change is futile, for that merely hinders growth and innovation. Innovation itself demands change and it is this change that sometimes causes a dip which can slow business down. How, then, do companies manage to grow while staying ahead of the competition? In this groundbreaking book on innovation, John P. Kotter provides managers and business leaders his new business model which functions quite like a dual operating system, sustaining growth and innovation at the same time. In tandem he shows how organizations can help themselves by building a network hierarchy which changes daily and reorganizes itself to maintain growth. This dual operating system is pivotal to the situation of today where companies vanish in the blink of an eye because of all the competition. The book helps business leaders learn how to build their own business model which incorporates Kotter's dual operating system and drive their innovations forwards without hurting the traditional hierarchy.
