The National Conference on Advancements in Information Technology and Internet Security, AITIS-2008 is organized by the Department of MCA, Sinhgad Institute of Business Administration and Research, Pune, India. This conference will provide a forum for the researchers and professionals from Industries, Research & Development sector, Educational Institutions, Government Organizations, Universities and Post Graduate students to share and disseminate their innovative and pioneering views about recent trends and developments in the areas of Information Technology & Internet Security. This conference has covered almost all the state-of-the-art technology areas and aims to establish and strengthen relationships in research & development, through networking and collaboration of members and participants. We are delighted to report that 110 papers have been received from 11 different states, out of which 50 papers have been finally selected for presentations as full papers. The review process was a double blind system with evaluations by two different reviewers, followed by a final internal review. The papers were accepted based on relevance of the topic, originality, novelty of the work done and overall appeal of the paper. The conference covers areas related to Biometrics, Digital Image and Signal Processing, Pattern Recognition, Human Computer Interaction (HCI), E-Commerce, Digital Signal Processing, Advanced Networking and Security, Data Mining, Knowledge Management, Grid Computing, Parallel Computing, Bioinformatics, Internet Security etc. This volume contains selected research papers presented in this national conference hosted by the Department of Computer Applications of SIBAR. The MCA Department of SIBAR was established in the year 2004 and has grown tremendously from modest infrastructure into the state of art facility. Sinhgad Institute of Business Administration and Research (SIBAR) is a part of the prestigious Sinhgad Technical Education Society, which is one of Pune's largest educational trusts. SIBAR, located at Kondhwa campus, is successfully running Pune University courses namely MBA, MCA, MMM, MPM and PGDM. SIBAR is supported by the goodwill and reputation of the Sinhgad Group, a picturesque campus, all modern infrastructures and a team of dedicated and highly qualified teaching and non-teaching staff. Under Quality Improvement Program University of Pune has considered SIBAR's proposal for conducting the National Conference in the year 2008 and is giving the Department of MCA a substantial grant for the same. About the Authors Dr. Arpita Gopal obtained her Doctor of Philosophy in Computer Science from Apaji Institute of Mathematics & Applied Computer Technology at Banasthali Vidyapith and is presently the Director of Department of Computer Applications, Sinhgad Institute of Business Administration and Research, Pune, Maharashtra. She is actively engaged in research and development and has contributed in various national and international journals and conferences. She has actively participated in initiation and execution of management programs at SIBAR, and in designing and reviewing various autonomous and university courses. Chandrani Singh obtained her MCA degree from National Institute of Technology, Rourkela, formerly known as Regional Engineering College, in 1995 and Masters of Engineering in Computer Science from the same institution in 1998. She is working as an Assistant Professor in Department of Computer Applications of Sinhgad Institute of Business Administration and Research, Pune, Maharashtra. Sagar S. Jambhorkar, has obtained his M.Sc. Degree in Computer Science from Dr. Babasaheb Ambedkar Marathwada University, Aurangabad, Maharshtra and is currently pursuing Doctor of Philosophy in Computer Science from Department, of Computer Science, Amravati University, Maharashtra. He has published more than 25 papers in National and International Conferences and Journals and is working as a reviewer for the Journal "Computer Vision and Image Understanding" of Elsevier Publication.
