Science has changed the life style of people across the globe and India is noe xception. With increasing relevances and applicability of genetics to human affairs, it is within the realm of possibility that genetics will become the most important of applied sciences. However, biotechnology has affected all the major domains of human activity and welfare ranging from agriculture to medicine and environment. It has developed into an important force in the creation of employment, production and trade and affects natural economy and the quality of human life throughtout the world. About Author : Dr. Irfan Ali Khan obtained his M.Sc. from Aligarh Muslim University and Ph.D. in Botany from Osmania University, Hyderabad, specializing in 'Genetics and Plant Breeding'. Dr. Khan is the Director of Nawab Shah Alam Khan Centre for Post Graduate Studies and Research (Affiliated tot he Osmania University), Anwarul Uloom College Campus, Mallepally, Hyderabad. He teaches Post Graduate students and guides research scholars at this centre. Dr. Atiya Khanum obtained her M.Sc. and Ph.D. in Botany from Osmania Universtiy, Hyderabad. Dr. Khanum has worked on the 'Ecology of Two lakes of Hyderabad with special reference to Planktonic and Mat forming Algal Communities'. She is Associate Professor and Head of the P.G. Department of Botany, Nawab Shah Alam Khan Centre for Post Graduate Studies and Research (Affiliated to the Osmania University), Anwarul Uloom College Campus, Mallepaly, Hyderabad.
