Understand and learn how to deal with constant changes in the world around you with The Age Of Unreason. The book is an insight into the world that we live in, and it shows readers that embracing discontinuous change is the only path to a better future. Summary Of The Book In an age where change is the only thing that is constant in life, The Age Of Unreason urges readers to break free of traditional ways of thinking in order to manipulate change to our advantage. Discontinuous change, as the author describes it, is a phenomenon that we have to learn to live with. The book breaks down the dramatic changes that are transforming education, business, and even the nature of work. Astounding new advancements in technology have bolstered the shift in demand from manual skills to cerebral skills, with the virtual extinction of lifelong full-time jobs. In such a scenario of discontinuous change, Handy suggests that we need to re-organize our thinking in an upside-down and discontinuous manner in order to cope with our ever changing lives. The Age Of Unreason aims to change the way we think about our work and also the world around us at large. The book puts forward observations about the future developments in the world, and helps readers find meaning in their personal as well as professional lives. It also throws light on why we need to develop new kinds of schools and organizations, and approach work in new ways. The Age Of Unreason essentially distills the ideology of one of the most insightful critics of modern capitalism, and presents new ideas about the nature of our society and the kind of world that we can yet create.
