This book is intended to meet the needs of the mathematics and engineering students of the south Indian universities, As the syllabuses of these various courses in the different universities vary, the book covers the most extensive syllabus on any part of the subject. I acknowledge our indebtedness to the various standard treatises on the subject. I will be grateful for suggestions towards improvement of the book.
