ABOUT THE AUTHOR David Potter was born in 1874 in Bridgeton, New Jersey, United States, the son of William Elmer Potter and Alice (Eddy) Potter. He earned his Bachelor of Arts from Princeton in 1896 and was admitted to the New Jersey bar in 1897. He entered the United States Navy in 1898 and served at sea during the war with Spain and Philippine campaign. After a long career in the Navy, he retired on January 1, 1939. He wrote nine novels from 1908-1919 and published his memoirs Sailing the Sulu Sea in 1940. He also wrote under the pseudonym Edward Barron. ABOUT THE BOOK While a young man is visiting coastal Virginia for a house party, he runs across a mysterious young lady who is bent on remaining anonymous and enjoying her summer.
