An Unfrequented Highway Through Sikkim and Tibet to Chumolari relates John Easton’s journey through Sikkim and Tibet to Chumolaori in the 1920’s. It is a journey that carries us up from the plains of India to the heights of the Himalaya. The journey takes us through one of the less known and travelled Himalayan routes. The author describes to us the wondrous vistas of the mountains as he passes through Kalimpong and Sikkim on his way to the pass into Tibet. This travelogue amply describes the area as it was then and one has to wonder how mauch if at all it has really changed.
