Ancient India in Historical Outline, by D. N. Jha, is the revised and enlarged edition that depicts the important developments in India's social, economic and cultural history up to the end of the ancient period and the early middle ages. Summary of the Book This book explains the rise and progress of different states. Special attention has been given to the elements of change and growth in society, economy, and culture, and to the various forms of exploitation and resulting social tensions. The author also discusses the consequences of religion and superstition in various communities. The book is interspersed with several pictures and illustrations to make the text more engaging. About D. N. Jha Dwijendra Narayan Jha has taught at various universities and other educational institutions in India and abroad. He was the President of the Ancient Indian History section of the Indian History Congress in 1979 and its General Secretary from 1985 to 1988. He is currently serving as Professor of History at the University of Delhi.
