Hyacinthus is a small genus of bulbous, spring-blooming perennials. They are fragrant flowering plants in the family Asparagaceae, subfamily Scilloideae and are commonly called hyacinths. Hyacinths are often known as a symbol of jealousy and sorrow. Ancient Victorians also considered the hyacinth a symbol of sporting activities, hmm, ah yes, the discus. Hyacinths have a powerful scent which can be described as floral green with vegetal aquatic accents and sweet and spicy notes.
