Anna Karenina is a classic novel by Leo Tolstoy. Summary of the Book Anna Karenina is the wife of a wealthy and prominent Russian government official. Despite her outer happiness with the socially accepted life she leads as a woman of upper-middle-class existence, she is not satisfied. Her husband, Alexei Alexandrovich Karenin, is a good man. However, life with him is droll and she begins to find him unattractive. When she meets the dashing young officer of the guards, Count Vronsky, she falls for his viles. Vronsky seduces her, despite having no intentions of marrying her. Anna leaves her familial life behind, abandoning her husband and her son for the fiery affair. However, it is a doomed love that she pursues for Vronsky soon tires of her and returns to the military. Anna begins to break under the pressure from society as she has become an outcast. How can she return to the family she abandoned for a love that was fated to end in doom from the beginning? About Leo Tolstoy Lev "Leo" Nikolayevich Tolstoy was a Russian writer and philosopher.
