Karatal is a traditional hand percussion instrument from India, closely related to the manjira or hand cymbals. This karatal pair features a wooden/Plastic frame with two long, straight handles, connected by two shorter wooden/Plastic handles. The open space between the long handles contains a wooden separator, which divides two rows of three brass cymbals, producing a rhythmic clinking sound. Another variation includes small cymbals embedded in wooden/Plastic blocks, forming a distinct type of instrument.
