The oyster mushroom is an edible mushroom that can be easily grown either for commercial purposes or for home consumption. The temperature regime of 30-40°C. allows for good growth and high-quality protein and vitamin. Good for diabetic patients. Its high fiber content makes it excellent for stomach-related ailments. The average biological efficiency can be 60-90%. It has an excellent shelf life as compared to oysters or button mushrooms. Its spore content is very low hence does not cause respiratory allergy problems as the presently grown oyster species.
