The adolescent mastermind is back and this time his quest involves personal agendas. The only way for him to help his mother out of her serious illness is to go back to the past and battle his old evil self in this delightful novel, packing in both punches and punchlines. Summary Of The Book Artemis Fowl (6) & The Time Paradox 01 Edition begins with Angeline Fowl, Artemis Fowl’s mother contracting an illness that leaves her chronically debilitated. Artemis tries very hard to help her out of this, employing both science and magic but to no avail. Indeed, her condition worsens with the more magic Artemis uses in attempts to rescue her out of this condition. Captain Holly Short determines that she is suffering from Spelltropy. It is a fairy disease that is exacerbated with the use of magic. The only way to stop his mother from dying from Spelltropy is through the brain fluid of Silky Sifaka Lemur. However, this species is extinct now due to a deal that Artemis has undertaken with the extinctionists in the past. Artemis doesn’t want his mother dying and therefore decides to go back in time to the past. With Captain Holly Short by his side and the time stream opened up, Artemis Fowl is ready to find a way to bring the Lemur back to the present. The mastermind plans his actions meticulously and knows exactly how to bring the Lemur back to his ailing mother’s rescue. However, his plan involves his butler and this does not work out the way Artemis would have liked it to. His butler tranquilises him and Holly Short and they are put in the back of the Fowl Bentley. With odd help from Mulch Diggums they manage to escape from their current predicament. However, the question remains whether they will manage to wrest the Lemur out of the sight of the conniving young Artemis Fowl and save his mother. This novel does Eoin Colfer proud by packing in more twists and turns than most writers of fiction for children can claim in their entire series. Holly Short, No1, Butler, mulch Diggums and even Commander Root make the team of Artemis and this epic battle with his demons from the past make Artemis Fowl (6) & The Time Paradox 01 Edition the fantastical adventure ride that it is.
