Asterix The Gladiator sets out to save his village’s precious bard, Cacofonix in this fourth graphic novel in the series by Albert Uderzo and Rene Goscinny. Summary of the Book When the Romans decide to kidnap one of the indomitable Gauls as a present for Julius Caesar, they make a mistake by picking Cacofonix the bard. Despite his deposition as a horrible singer and musician, Cacofonix is family, and no one messes with Asterix and Obelix’s family. If anyone is going to toss Cacofonix to the lions or tie him up, it’s got to be his own family, of course! But to get Cacofonix back, Asterix will have to get into the Circus Maximus as one of the Gladiators. Luckily, there’s always an opening or two, and if there isn’t, Obelix can just knock a wall down.
