The areca palm (Dypsis lutescens) is considered an endangered species in its native Madagascar but the areca palm is dominant in Indian regions. It is an excellent air purifier, pet friendly and easy to grow. Its delicate leaves/pods curve outwards. grow in a manner reminiscent of clumps of bamboo. Their leaves are narrow and full, almost like bamboo leaves. They are also grown indoors as houseplants. They are best planted in spring and have a slow to moderate growth rate.
