Ashapurna Debi was born on January 8, 1909, in Kolkota. She is the author of several books such as Priyo Galpo and Prothom Pratisruti. She was an eminent writer and poet in Bengali. Debi has been honoured with many awards, including the Jnanpith Award and the Padma Shri. She also received a Fellowship at the Sahitya Akademi. She died on July 13, 1995.
