The book, ‘Basic Civil Engineering & Engineering Mechanics’ has been written for the students of B.Tech First Year Common to all branches of Engineering. This text book has been written strictly according to new syllabus of RAJIV GANDHI PROUDYOGIKI VISHWAVIDYALAYA, BHOPAL (M.P). Basic Civil Engineering & Engineering Mechanics is a fast developing discipline of Civil Engineering. Considerable work have been done in the field in the last many decades. A student finds it difficult to have access to the latest literature in the field. The authors have tried to collect the material from various sources and with best efforts presented in the form of a text. The purpose of writing this text is to provide systematic and comprehensive knowledge to the course contents. This book contains Highlights as given at the end of each chapter for quick understanding of chapter. The Short Answer Questions as well as Long Answer Questions are also included at the end of the each chapter. The entire book is divided into three parts covering vast topics of Civil Engineering such as: Unit-I : Applied Mechanics, Unit-II : Surveying and Field Work, Unit-III : Building Materials.
