The book Basics of Molecular Biology has been kept close to the basics as far as possible; so that the students may learn without having to first assimilate complex terminology. The primary purpose of the book is to be an initial stepping stone towards greater heights. About the Author Ram Naresh Singh has retired as a Professor from the Molecular Biology Unit Tata Institute of Fundamental Research Mumbai. He has taught Molecular Biology to the M.Sc. Students of Bombay University for 17 years and students of M.S. and Ph.D. programs at Bhakti Vedanta Institute Hare Krishna Temple Juhu Mumbai for a couple of years. He has worked in the laboratories of the University of Lucknow; Bhabha Atomic Research Centre Bombay; Medical Research Council Laboratory Cambridge U.K.; European Molecular Biology Laboratory Heidelberg Germany; and Yale University New Haven USA. Dr. Singh has co-authored many original research papers published in the international and national journals in the fields of Chemistry Molecular Biology and Neurobiology. He has edited two books Neurobiology of Sensory Systems and Nervous Systems: Principles of Design and Function. Dr. Singh had organized three international conferences on Neurobiology in 1988 1991 and 1994; the first two at Goa and the third at Cochin. He has been recipient of fellowships from UNESCO EMBO and Nuffield Foundation.
