Summary of the Book When Deadshot breaks into Arkham to kill the Joker, he is stopped by a strange man who calls himself Onomatopoeia, who shoots Deadshot in the head. Onomatopoeia frees the Joker and gives him money to wreak havoc and eventually draw out the Batman. Joker wages war on Maxie Zeus, the crime lord who has been turning Joker's toxic venom into a designer drug. Batman enters the fray soon, discovering the Deadshot is alive. Onomatopoeia is targeting non-superpowered vigilantes and will eventually kill even the Joker. Batman's own morals are soon tested as he is faced with the choice of leaving the Joker to die the death he deserves or to save him.
