He wrote numerous books on religion, relationships, and the art of meditation. These include Meditation: The First And Last Freedom, From Sex To Superconsciousness, Awareness: The Key To Living In Balance, and Intimacy: Trusting Oneself And The Other. Osho’s writings often explored inter-personal relationships and tried to provide solutions to common personal problems. He was known for his use of humour and aphorisms in conveying his ideas. Many of his works also presented critiques of leading religious sects, including Hinduism, Buddhism, and Christianity. He was born in 1931 in Madhya Pradesh and was given the name Chandra Mohan Jain. He pursued philosophy in college, completing his B.A. from D. N. Jain College, Jabalpur, and his M.A. from University of Sagar. He taught philosophy at Jabalpur University for a few years and travelled across the country delivering lectures on the critique of socialist and conventional religious ideologies. He soon introduced his own technique of meditation and went on to establish the International Meditation Resort at Pune. It drew thousands of followers each year for spiritual consultation and therapy. He passed away in 1990.
