When the term Big Data came into existence author Tom Davenport did not know that it was going to be as big as it is today. Big Data is basically large amounts of data that need to be stored, but cannot be done using the traditional data process applications. About the Author Tom Davenport is an American writer who specializes in analytics, business process innovation and knowledge management. He is currently the President’s distinguished professor in Information Technology and Management at Babson College near Boston. In 2003, he was named one of the world’s Top 25 Consultants by Consulting Magazine.
