The fourth book of the children’s novel series, Big Nate Goes For Broke, describes the arch rivalry between Nate’s school P. S. 38 and Jefferson Middle School, where Nate tries hard to secure a win for his beloved school. Summary Of The Book Big Nate was originally introduced to the public in 1991 through a comic strip illustrated and written by Lincoln Peirce. The protagonist, Nate Wright, is a young, spirited sixth-grader who does not believe in conformity. His utter disregard for rules and regulations often land him into trouble with his teachers and school Principal. The story of Big Nate Goes For Broke is interspersed with comics, and basically revolves around Nate and his friends. Nate has started an after-school club called The Doodlers, which provides him with enough creative space and time to pen down his artistic musings in the form of cartoons. It is through this club that Nate makes a new friend, Dee Dee. When their school suffers immense water damage, Nate and his friends are in for a shock of a lifetime. They’re being forced to collaborate and study in the premises of their rival school, Jefferson Middle School. In order to save face, Nate must come up with something that P. S. 38 is better at than Jefferson Middle School! But can he manage to do so? Nate Wright’s character is one of a mischievous, stubborn and fun-loving young boy who always has some shenanigans up his sleeve and wreaks mayhem wherever he goes. Originally designed to adhere to domestic humour, Big Nate slowly carved a niche for itself in young school humour.
