Areca palms thrive in bright, indirect light. They can tolerate some direct sunlight but prefer filtered light. Place them near a window where they can get plenty of light without being exposed to harsh midday sun. Select the Right Pot: Use a pot that has drainage holes to prevent water from accumulating around the roots. Areca palms prefer pots that allow for good drainage and airflow. Potting Mix: Use a well-draining potting mix that retains some moisture but doesn't become waterlogged. A mix formulated for palms or tropical plants is ideal. Planting: When planting your Areca palm, ensure the roots are covered with soil but not buried too deeply. Gently pat down the soil around the roots to remove air pockets. Watering: Keep the soil consistently moist during the growing season (spring and summer), but avoid overwatering. Allow the top inch or two of soil to dry out between waterings. Reduce watering in the winter months, allowing the soil to dry out more between waterings. Humidity: Areca palms prefer high humidity. You can increase humidity by misting the leaves regularly or placing the pot on a humidity tray filled with water and pebbles.
