About Truman Capote Truman Streckfus Persons, better known as Truman Capote, was an American writer, screenwriter and playwright. He is also known for In Cold Blood. Truman Capote was a close and personal friend of Harper Lee, and was a driving force in convincing her to pen her only published masterpiece, To Kill a Mockingbird. The film adaptation of this book is considered to be one of Audrey Hepburn’s finest roles, and it went on to win the Academy Awards for Best Original Song: "Moon River" and Best Score of a Dramatic or Comedy Picture. It was also nominated for Best Actress in a Leading Role, Best Art Direction and Best Adapted Screenplay.
