Truman Capote’s Breakfast at Tiffany’s is a classic novella of the 40’s in America. Summary of the Book Holly Golightly is a country girl trying to convince herself that she’s a New Yorker. She gets comfortable with her life of no jobs, enjoying the income she gets from her patrons. She courts wealthy men who spoil her with expensive clothes and gifts. She hopes to marry one of them someday. She runs into a man she calls Fred after her older brother. They begin a relationship in a Manhattan brownstone apartment, and soon Fred begins to find Holly fascinating despite her shocking viewpoints. This is the most famous work of Truman Capote, and Holly remains his most memorable character ever. About Truman Capote Truman Streckfus Persons, better known as Truman Capote, was an American writer, screenwriter and playwright. He is also known for In Cold Blood. Truman Capote was a close and personal friend of Harper Lee, and was a driving force in convincing her to pen her only published masterpiece, To Kill a Mockingbird. The film adaptation of this book is considered to be one of Audrey Hepburn’s finest roles, and it went on to win the Academy Awards for Best Original Song: "Moon River" and Best Score of a Dramatic or Comedy Picture. It was also nominated for Best Actress in a Leading Role, Best Art Direction and Best Adapted Screenplay.
