A very readable account of Buddhist India by this renowned scholar of Buddhism. This book is an attempt by the author to describe ancient India, during the period of Buddhist ascendancy, from the point of view, not so much of the Brahman, as of the Rajput. There are 16 chapters, and one appendix regarding the most ancient coins of India. 56 illustrations showing inscriptions, antiquities, architecture, and coins are included in this book. A map of Asoka’s kingdom is affixed at the end of the book.
