Bulfinch’s Greek And Roman Mythology: The Age Of Fable is a folklore and mythology book that consists of various stories from the treasures of Greek and Roman literature. He intended his work for the readers of English literature and not just the learned, philosophers, or theologians. He wanted it to be available for the general reader, so that they can know more about the Greek and Roman literature, and help them understand allusions that have been so often made by poets, essayists, and even orators of English language. This book provides classic and vivid retellings of the Greek and Roman myths. Along with that, various famous stories associated with Greek and Roman Gods and heroes have been included here. These are stories of Hera, Zeus, Jason, Apollo, the Norse Gods, Aeneas, Ulysses, deeds of Thor, and the stories of the Golden Fleece. The author has also included various other seminal stories that have played an underlying role in the Western culture as well. The stories provided in Bulfinch’s Greek And Roman Mythology: The Age Of Fable relate to the religions of ancient Greece and Rome. However, the author expresses that these stories can only be understood if the reader is aware of some of the basic concepts of Greek and Roman culture. And thus, the author first acquaints the reader to the ideas of the structure of the universe which prevailed among the Greeks.  About Thomas Bulfinch Thomas Bulfinch is an American writer who is famously known for his Bulfinch’s Mythology that got published posthumously in 1881. He is famously known for Bulfinch’s Mythology that is a compilation of his previous works that got published in three volumes. These are The Age of Fable, or Stories of Gods and Heroes; The Age of Chivalry, or Legends of King Arthur; and Legends of Charlemagne, or Romance of the Middle Ages. Born on 17th July 1796 in Newton, Massachusetts Thomas Bulfinch was an American author and a banker. He re-organized Psalms so as to illustrate the Hebrews’ history. Bulfinch wrote for the common reader and he retold the mythological stories to make them a source of amusement. He died in the year 1867 at the age of 70.
