Capitalism: The Unknown Ideal is a political treatise by Ayn Rand, giving her views on capitalism, altruism and objectivism. Summary of the Book The book presents articles by Ayn Rand, showcasing how she felt that the basis of capitalism is being changed by the continuous barrage of selflessness. She attributes this as the root cause of the world’s collapse, and sets off a philosophical revolution which stands against all the existing views on the subject. She speaks of the the persecution of big business, the causes of war, the default of conservatism, and the evils of altruism, and challenges every view at modern society with her writing. Also included in this edition are the two articles: The Wreckage of the Consensus, and Requiem for Man, discussing respectively her views on Vietnam and the draft as well as the Papal encyclical Progresso Populorum. About Ayn Rand Ayn Rand was an American novelist, playwright, philosopher and screenwriter best known for writing: The Fountainhead, and Atlas Shrugged, and for promoting romantic realism and objectivism. Rand won the Prometheus Award and was inducted into the Hall of Fame for Anthem and Atlas Shrugged. Ayn Rand was the subject of two movies, the Academy Award nominated Ayn Rand: A Sense of Life, and The Passion of Ayn Rand.
