Drumstick is one of those rare plant species whose seeds, flowers, leaves, and stems are edible and extremely nutritious. Moringa commonly referred to as drumstick is treated as a 'super plant' for its unique yet powerful. Drumstick (Moringa oleifera) is a fast-growing, drought-resistant tree of the family Moringaceae, native to the Indian subcontinent. Common names include moringa, drumstick tree, horseradish tree, and ben oil tree or benzolive tree. Drumsticks have long, dark green bumpy pods running along the length and fleshy pulp inside the pod encasing each seed. In India, the vegetable is quite a popular addition to many types of curries and broths. The long and dark-skinned pods of Moringa plants can grow upto 15 to 18 inches in length. The soft flesh inside the pod is ivory in colour and holds the seeds in hulls. The flesh of the pods is mildly bittersweet and can go well with a variety of different recipes specially Sambhar, soup and curries. Moringa is fairly rich in nutrients like beta carotene, vitamin C, iron and copper. Moringa is also cultivated for oil which is now being widely used in the skin care industry. They tend to grow best when they are planted in average, moist and well-drained soil, will tolerate sandy soil, loamy soil, clay soil and moist soil. Now open the seed packet on a white sheet of paper as while opening the seeds might fall, which are not visible to naked eyes. After preparing the soil, insert the seeds into the prepared Mixture of soil along with coco peat to half (0.5) inch of depth. While watering, care needs to be taken to sprinkling water through a sprinkler or manually using your hands, do not use pipe or a mug to water for the first week, as the force of water might damage the seed germination process. Once the seeds grow in to seedlings, say around 3 inches, then you may transplant the seedlings to various pots or desired areas. The sapling needs to be checked at regular intervals to ensure it is not infected by any weed/pest or insect and if you find any such thing on the leaves or in soil then you may spray Organic Pesticides like Neem Oil, Neem Powder on it. The nursery bed has to be prepared finely by adding farm yard manure & sand. grooves of 0.5 cm deep have to be made and sow the seed 0.5 cm apart and cover it with thin layer of soil. Spraying the water timely the seedlings will be ready for transplanting. Add urea to the soil for removal of insects and make soil clean and fresh for Home garden and also mix soil with coco peat and Vermi compost for better result in growing plant. DO's: Put seeds 0.5 inch depth inside the soil and add water or spray slowly and timely such that seeds does not come out the soil. Can Be Use All Season, by using Vermi Composit And Coco peat then Results are Good. Expect the result of the germination after 7 days to 10 days from the planting. Regularly watering should happen twice in day. Dont's: Seeds should not to keep more than 1 inch inside the soil.if so there may chance of zero germination. Happy Gardening..!!
