Snake Gourd is eaten immature as a vegetable much like the summer squash snake gourd, (Trichosanthes cucumerina), also called serpent gourd, rapid-growing vine of the gourd family (Cucurbitaceae), cultivated for its oddly shaped. he edible green fruit derives its name of snake gourd, due to its characteristic coiled appearance with light white stripes. It is a pure line selection from a local type of Alangulam. Snake gourd is a vine with palm-shaped leaves, leaflet-like branches and wiry stems known as tendrils. Snake gourds are true to their name as they have a long, curved shape with light green speckles and a waxy green skin, their firm flesh is embedded with seeds. They tend to grow best when they are planted in average, moist and well-drained soil, will tolerate sandy soil, loamy soil, clay soil and moist soil. Now open the seed packet on a white sheet of paper as while opening the seeds might fall, which are not visible to naked eyes. After preparing the soil, insert the seeds into the prepared Mixture of soil along with coco peat to half (0.5) inch of depth. While watering, care needs to be taken to sprinkling water through a sprinkler or manually using your hands, do not use pipe or a mug to water for the first week, as the force of water might damage the seed germination process. Once the seeds grow in to seedlings, say around 3 inches, then you may transplant the seedlings to various pots or desired areas. The sapling needs to be checked at regular intervals to ensure it is not infected by any weed/pest or insect and if you find any such thing on the leaves or in soil then you may spray Organic Pesticides like Neem Oil, Neem Powder on it. The nursery bed has to be prepared finely by adding farm yard manure & sand. grooves of 0.5 cm deep have to be made and sow the seed 0.5 cm apart and cover it with thin layer of soil. Spraying the water timely the seedlings will be ready for transplanting. Add urea to the soil for removal of insects and make soil clean and fresh for Home garden and also mix soil with coco peat and Vermi compost for better result in growing plant. DO's: Put seeds 0.5 inch depth inside the soil and add water or spray slowly and timely such that seeds does not come out the soil. Can Be Use All Season, by using Vermi Composit And Coco peat then Results are Good. expect the result of the germination after 10 days to 18 days from the planting. Regularly watering should happen twice in day. depending upon different varieties for herbs/small seeds variety special care needs to be taken cover the sowing area with transparent polythene in evening for fast germination all Flowers, Tomatoes, Chilli, Peppers, Brinjal etc.. All needs to be transplant once the Plant Is 3-4 Inch. All varieties require very less water, and need sunlight Min 2-3 Hours daily for winter variety 1-2 hours Sun is fine for Germination Process.
