Chanakya’s New Manifesto to Resolve the Crisis within India, by Pavan K. Varma, attempts to figure out what one of classical India’s greatest thinkers and strategists would do if confronted with the numerous crises that plague today’s India. Summary of the Book This book is both a call to action as well as an insightful account of the issues that India is facing today. The author asserts that there is a practical and thorough plan, based on the seminal work of Chanakya, the Arthashastra, to bring about transformation in the five key areas that need immediate attention – governance, democracy, corruption, security, and the creation of an inclusive society. Whether it is setting up the groundwork for a self-governing and active Lokpal or effectively weeding out the corrupt politicians, the answers this book recommends, are practical and well within the constitutional structure. About Pavan K. Varma Pavan K. Varma is an Indian author, poet and translator. He is a graduate of St. Stephen’s College, New Delhi. He had served in the Indian Foreign Service.
