The book, written by Dr Nadamuni Gollagunta, focusses mainly the chemical concepts, governing the chromatographic process, including retention and separation of analytes. In the second chapter, reader’s knowledge is refreshed with the fundamentals of chemistry, the intermolecular interactions, relevant to chromatographic process. The third chapter describes various parameters, governing the chromatographic process. The fourth chapter, on stationary phases, has emphasis on their chemical structural features, which interact with analyte and mobile phase molecules in the retention process, and their methods of preparation/manufacture. The fifth chapter discusses the modes of interaction among the molecules of analytes, mobile phase, and stationary phase. The last chapter, briefly, discusses the chemical basis of various methods of analyte detection. The book is written at a level suitable for graduate and post graduate students of chemical, biochemical, and pharmaceutical analysis, as well as, the practicing analyst and relevant references are in place for further study in depth.
