About the book -There is a close relationship between Dickens’ novels and his own experiences in life, this book is an endeavour to correlate the two. Most of his novels dealt with the burning issues of the contemporary society which victimised children in particular. Dickens remorselessly criticised the evils he saw all around him. Being a product of inhuman society, he awakened the readers to the plight of the weaker section of the society. The novels of Charles Dickens are mines of information about the Victorian society, which did not spare even the children from being exploited. The book not only deals with the characters drawn by Dickens but it also throws light upon the harsh Victorian society.
