As is well-known, Chinese espionage against India, USA and neighbouring countries have risen significantly over the past three decades. At the same time, national security concerns and implications of these breaches have grown and made India-China security tensions, China’s expanding military might, and question the PRC’s strategic intention. In addition to bundle of cases of Chinese espionage in India, the threat from Chinese intelligence collection also extends outside India. Chinese intelligence is growing in sophistication, continuously adopting newer technologies and methods along with its traditional sources of internal monitoring, surveillance, and external clandestine operations. This book examines the structure, capabilities and recent reforms of Chinese Intelligence Services. It describes how China conducts espionage and other forms of intelligence collection.
