The chapters notice : Vedic age; epic age (1400 800 BC); age of laws and philosophy (800 315 BC); rise of Buddhism (522 BC); Puranic age (AD 500 800); Rajput ascendency; Afghan rule (AD 1206 1526); Mughals (1526 1707); conditions under the Mughals' and the last chapter is on the age of the Marattha (AD 1718 1818). 8 illustrations and 3 maps are included in the book. This book was first published in 1901.
