Close To Home is the story of Mrinalini Singh and her desperate attempt to prove her selflessness by taking care of her maid’s child. It is difficult for her and is worse than she thought because her husband has quit his job. This is a book about men and women who lead the good life and do not wish to compromise. Summary of the Book Mrinalini has everything she wants and needs: a loving husband, a good cook and the hope of a book deal someday. However, when her old roommate tells her that she is selfish, Mrinalini is determined to prove her wrong. She is then forced to take care of her maid’s child. Raising a child is not an easy task at all and it gets worse as her husband has left his lucrative job. He now has parental ambitions and this is not good news to Mrinalini. Her troubles double when her upstairs tenant and literary rival, Brajeshwar Jha, gets his book published before Mrinalini’s. Will she be able to get out of the mess that she is in and still prove that she is not selfish? This is a story of young people who only wish to possess good fortune and are looking for good lives.
