Cloud Computing: Its applications in Libraries has emerged in as a major development in I.C.T applications during the last few years. Enormous literature is available on the subject of cloud computing though not much literature is available on its applications in libraries. In India the takers of the concept are increasing day by day. The literature on this subject comprises of research papers, seminar/ conference papers and proceedings; and journal articles in peer reviewed journals. The searches have not revealed existence of any Indian book on the applications in Libraries. The present work could perhaps be considered to be the first exploring the application aspect. Despite being new and emerging field the concept has grown faster than anticipated because of its wide range of advantages in its applications in large systems of Institutional Repositories (IRs), Information systems, and services, and networking etc. The topic cloud computing in libraries is now emerging in the curriculum of Library and Information Science Schools in Indian universities. The book has been written with a view to create understanding of the subject and help not only in exploring but applying this important development in Information Technology, in Information Systems/ Services, Networks. This book has been divided into eight chapters: Cloud Computing and Libraries; The Architecture; Library Services; The Economics; Data Security and Regulations; World Wide Cloud Computing Scenario; Library & Information Networks; and The Future. It is hoped that the present book would be found useful by students pursuing Library and Information Science courses at higher levels. Researchers and professionals, etc engaged in the task of applications of cloud computing.
