The guava can grow to be 7–10 meters tall. Trunk: The trunk is woody and hard, with a smooth, pale bark that peels off in thin flakes. Leaves: The leaves are elliptic to oblong in shape, and grow in pairs, opposite each other. Flowers: The flowers are white in color, about 3 cm in diameter, and solitary or in 2-3 flower clusters. Fruit: The fruit is a fleshy, pyriform or ovoid berry that can weigh up to 500 g. The skin color is yellowish to orange, and the flesh can be white, yellow, pink or red. Seeds: The fruit contains a variable number of seeds (about 3-5 mm long). Smell: The fruit has a musky, at times pungent, odor of the sweet pulp. Propagation: The plant is usually propagated by seeds, but improved varieties must be perpetuated by plant parts.
