CMOS VLSI Design: A Circuits And Systems Perspective covers CMOS circuit design in detail. Summary Of The Book CMOS technology is one of the driving forces behind the advancement in the field of electronic circuit design. The transistor counts and clock frequencies in CMOS chips have been advancing at a rapid pace. CMOS VLSI Design: A Circuits and Systems Perspective explains CMOS VLSI design in detail. It discusses the emerging trends and techniques in the design of complex, high performance CMOS chips. It provides a sweeping coverage of CMOS design from the digital systems level to the circuit level. It covers a number of VLSI design topics and explains the fundamental principles of CMOS VLSI design techniques. It focuses on many CMOS design issues like interconnect, clocking, and circuits. It covers low power techniques in detail and discusses the integration of logical effort for efficient circuit design. It consists of tutorial chapters on tools and techniques like VHDL, SPICE, and Verilog. The book starts with an introductory overview of the technology, then proceeds to cover CMOS VLSI design concepts in detail. It covers MOS transistor theory, CMOS processing technology, circuit design techniques, and circuit characterizations and estimates of performance. CMOS VLSI Design: A Circuits and Systems Perspective covers circuit simulation, array subsystems, and special purpose subsystems. It also explains design methodologies and tools. The book then covers testing and verification techniques. It provides a lot of exercises for practice and uses many illustrative examples to explain the concepts clearly. About The Authors Neil H.E. Weste is an Australian engineer and inventor with a wide academic and industry experience. He has co-authored CMOS VLSI Design: A Circuits and Systems Perspective with David Harris. Neil Weste was born in 1951. He has a BSc, a B.E. and a PhD in physics from the University of Adelaide, Australia. He has worked at various American technology firms including Bell Telephone Laboratories, Agile systems, Symbolics, and TLW. In 1995, he returned to Australia and joined the faculty of the Macquarie University. Two years later, Weste co-founded Radiata Communications with David Skellern. The company designed the first chipsets for IEEE 802.11a WLAN standards. The company was later acquired by Cisco. Neil Weste is currently the Director of Engineering at the Wireless Networking Business Unit of Cisco. He is also a faculty member in the Macquarie University’s Department of Electronics Engineering . He is the Adjunct Professor of Electrical Engineering at the University of Adelaide. David Harris is an American Professor and an author. Other books by this author are Digital Design and Computer Architecture, and Integrated Circuit Design. His textbooks focus on IC design and computer architecture. David Harris has a master’s degree in Engineering from MIT. He has a PhD from Stanford University. He has worked on chip design in major firms like Intel, Evans & Sutherland, Sun Microsystems, and Hewlett-Packard. His areas of interests include computer arithmetic, microprocessors, and CMOS VLSI design, and he also owns a dozen patents. He has authored a few hiking guidebooks. Ayan Banerjee is an Indian professor and author. He has co-authored CMOS VLSI Design: A Circuits and Systems Perspective with Neil Weste and David Harris.
