"Climate change which was a debatable issue about a couple of decades ago, has come to stay. Many parts of the world are experiencing the climate change and India is not an exception. The impact of climate change has resulted in reduced land for cultivation, increased drought conditions, increase in soil and water salinity problems, water logging situations etc. In short, the climate change has resulted in the Land Degradation problems in the countryClimate change and land degradation are intensely related with each other. While in some places climate change resulted in land degradation in some other situations the land degradation was observed to be the primary cause of climate changeThere are many technologies for prevention/ reclamation and rejuvenation of land degradation. Amon g them use of plants /crops to prevent/manage the land degradation have a special significance due to its economic advantagesThis book discusses the above aspects in two chapters. The first chapter focusses on the climate change its status and impacts, The second chapter focusses on the scope of flora technology for addressing the land degradation issue including erosion, bio reclamation for soil salinity and sodicity problems, bio drainage, phyto remediation for soils and water, carbon sequestration to manage climate change etc.The large-scale adoption of the technologies is supported through appropriate case studies from India."
