The consumer Protection Act, 1986 was enacted with an object to protect the interests of consumers and for establishing consumer Protection Councils and other authorities for the settlement of consumer disputes. The working of the consumer dispute Redressal agencies has served the purpose to some extent but their disposal of cases has not been fast as per the interests of the consumers due to various shortcomings.
