This book is meant to be a handy resource for students enrolled in Undergraduate and Postgraduate vocational programs. It provides recommended recommendations for explaining the ideas that are emphasised in the course material. The notes used to teach communications in a science and Technology College in C.G., India, served as the inspiration for this book. There were no textbooks available at that level at the time. An Indian text was published as the demand for this course increased. This material was produced shortly after, mostly for pupils in Chhattisgarh.Advanced communications students are the target audience for this work. Level and it provides details on the fundamental ideas, procedures, circuits, and other components that make up communications systems. Although it is meant to be used as text, it will have the most impact if it is supported by examples and hands-on activities in which students are actively involved. In this edition of the text; chapter objectives have been added and student exercises increased in number to reinforce the theory in each chapter. Further, a new chapter on fiber optic theory has been added. The basic electrical-electronic prerequisite is knowledge of some circuit theory and common active circuits. This involves familiarity with de and ac circuit theory, including resonance, filters, mutually coupled circuits and transformers, and the operation of common solid-state devices. Some knowledge of thermionic devices and electron ballistics is helpful in the understanding of microwave tubes. I have found from my own teaching experience that students get truly excited about abstract concepts when they discover their power in applications, and it is possible to provide the means for such discovery using software packages such as Matlab. Thus, we have the opportunity to get a new generation of students excited about this field: by covering abstractions “just in time” to shed light on engineering design, and by reinforcing concepts immediately using software experiments in addition to conventional pen-and-paper problem solving, we can remove the lag between learning and application, and ensure that the concepts stick.
